Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

Job Summary

The Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach is a key member of the Rhodes College Athletics team, responsible for teaching and coaching student-athletes to develop and acquire the necessary skills to compete at a Division III level. This is a full-time, 10-month position that requires a strong coaching philosophy and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual workouts with players to instruct and coach techniques and skills outside of regular practice.
  • Supervise student workers as assigned and assist the Head Coach in developing competitive teams.
  • Assist with recruitment, building relationships with prospective student-athletes, and evaluating athletic talent.
  • Assist with equipment, apparel, and facility maintenance, as well as administrative functions such as team travel coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III, Rhodes College, and Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rules and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and insurability by the College's insurance carrier.
  • Experience as a high school and/or college lacrosse coach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Physical Demands
  • Athletics – Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Position involves both inside sedentary work and work on different fields and on other fitness environments while coaching and training situations with student-athletes.
  • Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel necessary.
