Job Summary:

The State of Florida is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to join our team in Tallahassee. As an Environmental Specialist II, you will assist with field work in conducting environmental investigations and serve as a contract and project manager for state-funded cleanup sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scientific assessments utilizing forensic assessment methodologies to collect data to determine source areas, extent of impact, and responsible parties.
  • Develop and implement work plans, historical data searches, and obtain access to properties.
  • Assist with the installation of monitor wells, soil and groundwater sample collection, and aquifer characterization studies.
  • Maintain and operate field equipment used during field investigations.
  • Summarize the results of field investigations, including interpretations of hydrogeological data and analytical data.
  • Produce final reports and maintain site files and input site information into the section database.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a natural science, and one year of related experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork and training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
