About the Role:
Newport Healthcare is a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services, dedicated to delivering high-quality care to young people and their families. We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team on a part-time basis, working in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing psychiatric care to residents/clients with mental or emotional problems, including routine and emergency assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, and coordination of care.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
- Serve as a liaison with staff Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other treatment team members to ensure effective care coordination.
- Document patient encounters through weekly progress notes in the electronic medical record (EMR), as well as any other encounters, such as safety assessments, phone calls with parents, and medication consents.
- Assist with utilization reviews for clients and provide cross-coverage to Psychiatry team cases when required.
- Maintain excellent communication with other members of the clinical team, outpatient providers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Complete discharge recommendation assessments as part of collaborative discharge summaries within 24 hours.
- Work in a collaborative environment, adhering to Physician Collaborative Agreements, if applicable.
- Requirements:
- Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or psychiatric APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) required.
- Board Certified preferred.
- Experience in child/adolescent and/or adult psychiatry required.
- Licensed in the State for which you are applying required.
- Experience in a residential setting preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned unit.
