We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant to join our team at Stanford Health Care. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our pathologists in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Dissect and process tissue specimens for microscopic analysis
- Provide gross descriptions of tissue specimens and hardware
- Instruct residents, fellows, and medical students in tissue dissection techniques
- Perform frozen section procedures and specimen radiographs
- Preserve tissues for ancillary studies and tissue bank
- Assist in collection of specimens for laboratory and microscopic analysis
- Participate in administrative roles such as health and safety certification for the autopsy service
- Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
- One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience preferred
- Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment and apparatuses
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret results
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to technological changes in the laboratory
