Job Summary

Clark Community Mental Health is seeking a skilled Substance Use Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Use Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing assessment, education, and individual/group counseling sessions to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine the medical necessity of treatment
  • Help clients set and achieve goals, develop action plans, and gain insight into their behaviors
  • Facilitate open discussions and examinations of emotions and experiences
  • Work with families and individuals to improve behavioral health
  • Develop and implement therapeutic processes to help clients achieve identified goals
  • Refer clients to additional services as needed
  • Collaborate with individuals, groups, and communities to promote behavioral health
  • Take a holistic approach to behavioral health care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Specialized knowledge: SUD treatment approaches and legal matters related to SUD treatment
  • Skills/Abilities: Effective oral and written communication
  • Professional Certification: SUD certification(s) required
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting or standing for extended periods, with occasional travel and minor lifting. A valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 20 pounds are necessary.
