Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob purposeThe Substance Use Counselor will provide assessment, education and individual/group counseling sessions to ensure the behavioral health needs of those needing such services are effectively and efficiently served.Duties and responsibilities- Complete assessment to explain medical necessity of treatment
- Help clients define goals, plan action and gain insight
- Encourage clients to discuss/examine emotions and experiences
- Work with families
- Help clients achieve identified goals
- Develop therapeutic processes
- Refer clients to other necessary services
- Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve behavioral health
- Take a holistic approach to behavioral health care
- Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner
- Complete other duties as required by the position and/or as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer
- Education - Minimum of a Master degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related health field
- Licensed QMHP as defined by State regulations
- Specialized knowledge- SUD treatment approaches. Legal matters related to SUD treatment.
- Skills/Abilities- Effective oral and written communication
