Key Responsibilities:
This role is focused on individual contributions.

As a Linux Operations Specialist within Apple's Fleet Operations and Engineering team, your primary duties will encompass:

1. Overseeing and sustaining Apple's extensive network of data systems operating on Linux.

2. Diagnosing and resolving intricate system challenges, collaborating with various teams, and analyzing logs/metrics to pinpoint underlying issues.

3. Delivering proficient technical assistance to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

4. Streamlining processes, boosting reliability/security, and creating comprehensive documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux/UNIX systems administration.
- Familiarity with database systems and technologies, including Oracle DB, Mongo DB, Postgres DB, MySQL, etc.
- Proficient in NAS, SAN, and network troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and isolating software and hardware issues within a Linux environment.
- Strong understanding of system security protocols.
- Solid knowledge of RAID configurations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT experience.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts based on business requirements, as this is a 24/7 operational environment.
- Availability for on-call support during weekends is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
- LPIC-1, RHCSA certification or higher.
- Experience in Linux/UNIX-related software/scripting development in languages such as Python, Shell, Perl, or Ruby.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Git, etc.
- Experience with version control systems like GitHub and CI/CD unit testing.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, or Docker Swarm is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range.

This structure allows for growth and advancement as you develop within your role.

The base pay range for this position is between $136,300 and $248,700, with actual pay depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Employees may also be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
