Job Summary

NV Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and support to various functional groups within the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on natural resource issues and activities, supporting land use permit processes and compliance with land use permit requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and support to all functional groups of the company.
  • Respond to wildlife and other environmental issues related to company facilities and projects.
  • Coordinate with resources specialists from various federal agencies throughout land permitting processes and with compliance requirements on projects before, during, and after construction.
  • Prepare and submit environmental permit applications to state agencies, as applicable.
  • Contract and manage third-party environmental consultants to work with federal agency environmental staff in the development and preparation of environmental analysis documents pursuant to NEPA, ESA, and NHPA regulations.
  • Develop project-specific environmental awareness training materials, such as desert tortoise resources and mitigation requirements.
  • Develop scope and budget estimates for environmental activities during project planning stages and define timelines for environmental activities specific to each project.
  • Respond to and mobilize emergency action responses to company facilities or field locations for environmental issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in the area of specialty and 6 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cultural resource regulations and applicable state and federal environmental permit regulations.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop and maintain federal, state, and local agency relationships.
  • Time management skills and proficiency in PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
