Job Title: Senior Environmental Scientist

At NV Energy, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the company's environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.

Job Summary

The Senior Environmental Scientist will serve as a subject matter expert on natural resource issues and activities, supporting land use permit processes and compliance with land use permit requirements. This role will provide technical direction and support to all functional groups of the company, responding to wildlife and other environmental issues related to company facilities and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as an environmental subject matter expert on internal and external interdisciplinary teams in planning, permitting, and constructing company projects.
  • Coordinates with resources specialists from various federal agencies throughout land permitting processes and with compliance requirements on projects before, during, and after construction.
  • Prepares and submits environmental permit applications to state agencies, as applicable.
  • Contracts and manages third-party environmental consultants to work with federal agency environmental staff in the development and preparation of environmental analysis documents pursuant to NEPA, ESA, and NHPA regulations.
  • Develops project-specific environmental awareness training materials, such as desert tortoise resources and mitigation requirements.
  • Ensures all compliance aspects of the position are known and followed, understanding and complying with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in the area of specialty and 6 years of related experience. The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of cultural resource regulations, applicable state and federal environmental permit regulations, and possess skills in interpersonal and communication, developing and maintaining federal, state, and local agency relationships, time management, and equipment and applications.
