Position Overview: Addictions Physician at VCU Health - MCV Physicians

Company Background:
The Division of Addictions Psychiatry at VCU Health is dedicated to enhancing research, education, and clinical services for individuals facing addiction challenges. This program is recognized as one of the foremost academic addiction medicine initiatives in the nation.

Unit Mission:
The Division is committed to improving the standards of research, education, and clinical practice for those affected by addictions. In the previous fiscal year, the faculty achieved over $6.5 million in NIH funding as Principal Investigators.

Primary Objective of the Role:
VCU Health System and the Department of Psychiatry are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about providing addiction services and educating others in the field of addiction psychiatry and medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate educational initiatives for medical students, residents, fellows, and peers in the field of addictions psychiatry.
  • Develop and present instructional content, lectures, and assessment materials, and engage in ongoing education.
  • Guide trainees and promote a diverse environment for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participate in clinical activities related to addiction medicine.

Workload Distribution:
Responsibilities may shift based on clinical needs and research funding availability.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution (M.D. or D.O.) or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
  • DEA certification required.
  • Board eligibility or certification in addiction medicine or psychiatry.
  • Proven experience in treating patients with addiction issues.
