Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the Liver Disease programs by managing financial operations. This includes:
- Assessing patient eligibility and benefits to secure insurance approvals for all transplant-related procedures, diagnostic evaluations, and specialist consultations.
- Addressing patient billing inquiries and navigating insurance denial and reimbursement issues.
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in regulations and legislation affecting reimbursement practices for both commercial and government payers.
- Providing financial guidance to patients and their families to ensure understanding of their financial responsibilities.
- Assisting Finance Leads and the Associate Director with various data analysis projects to evaluate the financial performance of advanced disease and transplant initiatives.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory; an Associate degree in business, finance, or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or a related office environment is strongly preferred.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- At least 3 years of experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle, including familiarity with medical terminology, insurance eligibility, and transplant billing/collections.
- Experience in a medical office environment, particularly in patient scheduling.
- Comprehensive understanding of transplant case rates, billing regulations, and collection methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Capitated Insurance frameworks.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and work autonomously.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly in medical contexts.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient computer skills.
