Job Title: Field Superintendent

At Switch, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Superintendent to lead our construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day field operations of our task order and/or larger lump institutional and/or commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day field activities to ensure project milestone dates and overall schedule completion date are met.
  • Create short-interval look-ahead project schedules to communicate, track, and proactively address upcoming events.
  • Establish and maintain a culture that values safety, health, and cleanliness.
  • Manage and coordinate work to ensure it is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner consistent with best-practices standards.
  • Verify that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner.
  • Manage and look-ahead to proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions.
  • Obtain all inspections and ensure quality aspects of physical work are fully documented.
  • Ensure all aspects of the project are compliant with contract terms and legal requirements.
  • Administer client-specific programs, such as CQC, Safety, Environmental Stewardship, etc.
  • Conduct and/or attend pre-construction, progress, and other project and staff meetings.
  • Conduct and/or participate in regularly held meetings involving TMG internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Meet with client representatives to discuss project status, proactively identify and resolve problems, and ensure clients are kept knowledgeable about work status.
  • Manage self-performed activities to ensure work is performed within established project budget.
  • Manage changes in project scope to ensure most contemporary contract documents are used to prevent avoidable rework.
  • Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other agreements to ensure scope, terms, and conditions are consistently and proactively met.
  • Manage punch list and project closeout process to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain daily paperwork, including timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence.
  • Provide timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as accounting, HR, ICS, etc.
  • Direct and manage workloads of supporting staff, including training, mentoring, and follow-up.
  • Participate in and encourage staff to seek out life-long learning opportunities and professional development.
Requirements:
  • Certification: Current safety credentials, including OSHA 30, 1st Aid, and CPR.
  • Certification: Current CQC certification issued by USACE/NAVFAC.
  • Education: High School or equivalent, AS degree in Construction Management or similar, or Journeyman status in a building trade (e.g., Carpenter), and no less than 5 years of progressive responsibility supervising construction.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or institutional general contractor engaged in general building and civil construction.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting.
  • Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods, required.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial and institutional buildings and site work related thereto, and a working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical work.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate both in the English written and spoken word.
