Job Summary

Geisinger Health System's state-of-the-art radiology technology enables our specialists to safely and accurately perform imaging tests to develop the best treatment plan for our patients. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - MRI, you will be part of a team that is eligible for participation in Geisinger's Imaging Technologist Clinical Ladder program. The ladder level you qualify for at hire will be dependent on experience and certifications. Salary commensurate with experience. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
  • Independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
  • Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assist the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • MRI safety knowledge and participate in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.
