Key Responsibilities

As a Security System Design Engineer, your role will encompass the development of tailored technical solutions to fulfill client and project specifications. You will act as an internal expert in physical security technology, supporting project managers and systems designers while contributing to the enhancement of ZBeta's engineering and consulting tools.

Position Duties

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

Design Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and finalize design and engineering documentation, including plans, details, diagrams, and estimates.
  • Engage in technical architectural design and coordination, covering aspects such as hardware, device installation, and infrastructure.
  • Provide calculations, recommendations, and feedback on specifications and contractor submissions.

Technical Analysis

  • Perform technical assessments, including calculations for cable distances, power requirements, and equipment layouts.

Product Evaluation

  • Conduct research on security systems and engage in ongoing technical education regarding relevant technologies.
  • Carry out comparative studies of various technologies.

Troubleshooting

  • Investigate and resolve issues related to codes and standards for physical security systems.
  • Assist project management with technical troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Quality Control

  • Support testing and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with standards and design specifications.

Project Coordination

  • Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure efficient design delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings to clarify scope and objectives.
  • Provide leadership to System Designers and collaborate with Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in security system design or technology.
  • Preferred experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD.

Education: Associate degree or relevant experience, with certification in Autodesk Revit for Electrical Design being advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Lenel security systems and familiarity with other security technologies is beneficial.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office and design software such as Bluebeam and Navisworks.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Abilities:

  • Technical aptitude with software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting design information effectively.
