Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in the Surgical Pathology lab at the Moses campus.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare pathological slides for diagnostic procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.
- Run tissue processor to produce paraffin blocks and file them accordingly.
- Embed pathology specimens to view all layers and cut them on a rotary microtome.
- Stain routine Hematoxylin Eosin and special stains (GMS, AFB, PAS) to identify organisms or specific tissue elements.
- Perform enzyme histochemistry and quality control to ensure high standards in the laboratory.
- Record equipment maintenance and prepare solutions for histological processing.
- Assist in Immunohistochemistry procedures and file paraffin blocks and slides.
- Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or Life Sciences required.
- New York State Department of Education Certified Histological Laboratory Technician License or a limited permit required.
- Experience prioritizing tissue handling, sign out of cases, and troubleshooting technical procedures required.
- Knowledge of histopathology techniques, immunohistochemistry techniques, and equipment used in Histology Laboratory required.
