Position Overview:
The Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the operational integrity of aircraft systems at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. This position demands a blend of leadership, technical acumen, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Qualifications:
- Aviation experience is essential.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of six (6) years in avionics/electrical fields or two (2) years of accredited aviation electronics schooling coupled with four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Preferred qualifications include an A & P license, FCC license, or NCATT certification.
Core Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide guidance and expertise in conducting operational tests and repairs of avionics and electronic systems to guarantee a defect-free aircraft.
- Utilize superior technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve system discrepancies, minimizing schedule disruptions.
- Implement process improvements aimed at reducing costs while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Training and Development:
- Mentor and train personnel to foster a skilled workforce aligned with company cross-training objectives.
- Instruct on the installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components in accordance with engineering specifications and maintenance manuals.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all installations meet quality and efficiency standards, troubleshooting and teaching effective repair processes.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all work performed on aircraft, ensuring compliance with inspection protocols.
- Oversee adherence to engineering changes and modifications as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional and operational tests to assess performance and reliability of systems.
- Enforce compliance with company safety regulations and programs, including FOD and tool control.
- Adapt to changes in scheduling and coordinate with other disciplines on projects.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems beyond avionics, such as hydraulics and flight controls.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Must possess strong communication skills in English.
