Job Summary

As a skilled Advanced Practice Provider, you will provide daily support to the Hand Consult/ED service and other surgical services as needed. You will manage assigned patients, consults, and procedures independently, working collaboratively with physician colleagues to ensure timely consults and admissions. Your responsibilities will include performing procedures within your scope of practice and standardized procedures, as well as providing independent advanced practice provider clinical expertise to patients and their families. This includes managing chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols. You will also participate in patient and staff education, demonstrating leadership skills and accountability for your own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities

Provide daily support to the Hand Consult/ED service and other surgical services as needed
Manage assigned patients, consults, and procedures independently
Work collaboratively with physician colleagues to ensure timely consults and admissions
Perform procedures within your scope of practice and standardized procedures
Provide independent advanced practice provider clinical expertise to patients and their families
Participate in patient and staff education
Demonstrate leadership skills and accountability for your own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act

Requirements

One year or greater experience as an ED or surgical service nurse practitioner required
Graduation with a master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License
California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification
National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider

Preferred Qualifications

Three years or greater recent clinical experience as an ED or surgical service Nurse Practitioner

Work Environment

This position is located at the Main Hospital and requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights. You will be working in a team-based care environment, providing patient care to a diversified patient population. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.

Special Requirements

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation, including criminal history, identity checks, and drug screen. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs, as may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
