Communications Electronic Technician

Norfolk Southern is seeking a skilled Communications Electronic Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment, including radios, digital microwave systems, and radio frequency data link equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Install, maintain, replace, and check communication equipment, including cables, computers, printers, monitors, radios, telephones, modems, wireless components, security cameras, batteries, connectors, and testing equipment
- Install, maintain, replace, and check VHF radios, data circuits, automatic equipment identification, closed circuit television, radar, speaker systems, and other communication facilities
- Cut, splice, and pull cable on ground, poles, and towers
- Use trenching equipment to bury equipment and cables in ground
- Receive and record inventory delivery
- Retrieve parts from inventory to install and maintain equipment
- Transport tools and equipment to jobsite by truck
- Install wiring in offices and field locations
- High School diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's License
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FCC license or NABOR certificate once hired
- Ability to work a 6-day work schedule with one scheduled rest day (5 on and 1 stand-by day)
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL once hired
