About the Position

This role is a key part of ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their daily commutes. If you have excellent interpersonal skills and are able to remain calm in high-pressure situations, this job may be for you.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist children when entering/exiting the vehicle, as needed.
  • Help with transporting children to and from their classrooms.
  • Maintain order within the vehicle and ensure all passengers remain seated with seatbelts fastened.
  • Act as a 'spotter' when the driver backs up the vehicle.
  • Sit in the middle or back of the bus to constantly monitor passengers.
    • Regularly walk the aisle at designated stops to verify that all passengers are safe and secure.
    • Conduct a thorough check of the bus at the end of morning and afternoon routes to guarantee no student remains on board.
    • Submit all required documentation daily, including but not limited to: transportation rosters, health checks, etc.
    • Collaborate with the bus driver to maintain an accurate and up-to-date bus binder containing necessary documents: seating charts, client information, emergency procedures, and vehicle accident forms.
    • Ensure the bus driver has access to current client information in the bus binder, which includes face sheets listing authorized pick-up individuals, Parent Consent for Medication Administration and Emergency Treatment forms, and printed maps to each client's home.
    • Complete monthly car seat inspections by the last working day of each month.
    • Notify relevant staff immediately upon discovering any maintenance issues.
    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies occurring on the bus.
    • Report all transportation-related incidents to supervisors.
    • Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
    • Complete all mandatory training sessions in a timely manner.
    • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to FCC policies/procedures.

Maintain confidentiality regarding Friendship Community Care, Senior Center programs, and children at all times. Confidentiality terms should comply with Friendship Community Care's Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA guidelines.

To succeed in this position, one must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary:

  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to write straightforward correspondence.
  • Able to effectively communicate information to customers, children, and colleagues in individual and small group settings.

Work Environment

This position operates in a moderately noisy work environment. It is a safety-sensitive function requiring the ability to pass background checks/drug screens and maintain a clean driving record along with a valid AR driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
