Job Overview

Our organization is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care and support to clients in their homes and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and personal tasks, including bathing, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial management.
  • Provide transportation to activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintain open communication with staff regarding client needs and progress through facility logbooks, staff meetings, and other means.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and efficiently, including Behavioral Reports, Incident Reports, Compliance Forms, Personal Care Work Sheets, Requisitions, Maintenance Forms, Progress Reports, Monthly Attendance Logs, and other necessary forms.
  • Ensure adherence to FTA vehicle maintenance and mileage/billing guidelines.
  • Report incidents and emergencies promptly to supervisors or designated authorities.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, manage, and revise client Plans of Care to prioritize good health, safety, and security.
  • FOLLOW MEDICATION MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES AND ASSIST IN MONITORING AND DOCUMENTATION OF THESE PROCEDURES
  • Organize and lead recreational activities for clients.
  • Set a positive example for clients by maintaining a neat appearance, adhering to FCC's dress code, and engaging in appropriate behavior.
  • Treat clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times, representing FCC's mission in every interaction.
  • Maintain FCC facilities and grounds in a clean, orderly, and functional state.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of FCC vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and regular preventive maintenance.
  • Pursue ongoing training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Submit proof of liability insurance and maintain current coverage.
  • May be required to undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency in operating motor vehicles, including passenger vans. May also drive personal vehicles for participant transport and maintain adequate liability coverage.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Friendship Community Care, Senior Center Programs, and clients, adhering to the Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA procedures.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with two+ years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, along with a clean driving record and state minimum liability insurance.

This is a safety-sensitive function, and candidates must pass background checks/drug screens to be considered for this position.
