Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.
- Assist students with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker, or other healthcare professional.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
- Communicate pertinent information to teachers and maintain confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.
- Support students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
