Position Overview:
An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse responsible for coordinating and delivering intermediate direct patient care in home settings or alternate infusion suites. This role ensures patient safety and adherence to the physician's care plan while operating under structured supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement intermediate nursing care plans, assessing patient progress and modifying treatments as necessary to meet established goals.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient needs and physical conditions during each visit, adjusting care plans based on ongoing evaluations and physician directives.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior Infusion Nurses to uphold safety and compliance standards.
- Deliver effective patient education, empowering patients and families to manage their care independently.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the clinical team, medical providers, and families to ensure continuity of care, while documenting all clinical interactions accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate discharge planning and create comprehensive discharge summaries that include patient instructions and care needs.
- Adhere to agency policies, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance in all aspects of patient care.
- Utilize technology efficiently to manage treatment orders and documentation, ensuring optimal billing practices.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and initiate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards in practice, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on the scope of services provided and related financial responsibilities.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to maintain licensure and competency in infusion nursing.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the orientation and training of new nursing staff.
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in patient care standards and infusion techniques.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for business travel.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with nursing technology tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical activities related to patient care.
- Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials.
- Compliance with safety protocols, including appropriate personal protective equipment.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- 1-2 years of experience in infusion nursing.
