Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Occupational Health team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and patient care tasks in accordance with Intermountain Scope of Practice and policies.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
  • Prepare patients for exams and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Coordinate care, administer medications, and document patient information.
  • Ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Perform routine tests, including EKGs and vision screens.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up as needed.
  • Communicate test results to patients and establish plans of care.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered.
  • Escalate non-routine issues to practice managers and healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire or within 60 days.
  • Three months of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Successful completion of initial MA onboarding and annual skills fair required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • One year of Medical Assistant experience.

Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
