KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct patient engagement:

Conducts comprehensive evaluations in Physical Therapy, integrating patient care:

assesses and interprets findings; formulates treatment and discharge plans; executes treatment, re-evaluates progress, and educates patients and their families; meets productivity standards.
Documentation:

Accurately records evaluation outcomes, treatment and discharge plans, and daily treatment notes in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional documentation standards; submits billing for services rendered.

Maintains effective verbal, written, and electronic communication while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, referral sources, physicians, and third-party payers.
Engagement in leadership activities:

community outreach, continuous quality improvement, marketing initiatives, cost management, program development, and supervision of support staff, students, and interns.
Professional growth:

Participates in team meetings; enhances skills through self-directed learning, attending workshops, and pursuing continuing education opportunities.

Provides clinical education to students.
Evaluate, consult, and implement suitable treatment plans for each patient.

Precisely documents treatments and billing for self and assigned support personnel.
Acts as a resource for less experienced staff, providing supervision for students.
Utilizes departmental resources efficiently.

Oversees assigned support personnel.
Collaborates with intra- and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care.

Engages with patients, families, and significant others in treatment and discharge planning.
Provides necessary documentation to physicians regarding patient status at the outset, at discharge, and at relevant intervals.

Discusses any modifications to the prescribed treatment plan with the physician prior to implementation.
Maintains compliance with licensure and regulatory standards.

Education / Training

:

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required; a Master's or Doctorate Degree is preferred.

Work Experience

:

Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

Proficiency in word processing and computer applications is required.

It is preferred that pediatric therapists possess NDT certification and competency in serial casting.

Certification, Licensure, Registration

:

Michigan State License in Physical Therapy is required.
BLS certification is required.
