Job Overview

This is a part-time role with a flexible schedule. The starting wage is $13 per hour. Weekly access to earned wages is available for this position.

Objective: The primary responsibility is to process payments for merchandise by scanning items, detailing, and totaling customer purchases, handling cash or change, and reconciling the cash register with sales transactions. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness and completing assigned task lists. You will report to the Travel Plaza Shift Supervisor, Travel Plaza Shift Manager, or Travel Plaza Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate cash registers and fuel pumps according to established procedures.
  • Ensure all sales are accurately entered into the cash register and documented.
  • Process payments for all items, applying discounts and accepting various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, and debit cards.
  • Engage in general merchandising activities such as pricing, stocking, bagging ice, organizing the cooler and stockroom, and replenishing supplies in the deli area.
  • Complete all assigned tasks on the Operations Checklist and perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning both the interior and exterior of the Travel Plaza.
  • Account for all monetary transactions.
  • Safeguard all store inventory and equipment from theft and damage.
  • Verify identification during transactions.
  • Report any breaches of rules and regulations to the appropriate authority.
  • Assist in maintaining the facility's cleanliness and sanitation by actively participating in cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Willingness to accept feedback regarding performance, work habits, and attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Capability to follow training guidelines to assist in onboarding new sales associates.
  • Commitment to adhere to training protocols for maintaining restroom cleanliness.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (6+ hours per shift).
  • Capacity to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
