We strive to support every student's academic success by entering them at a 4th-grade level in 9th grade.

We believe that these challenges offer us opportunities to strengthen our students' capabilities. Our three main objectives for every student are:

  1. To be well-prepared for college.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Respond quickly to referrals from teachers to counsel students dealing with social and emotional problems.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all staff members to identify and provide support for students in need.
  • Organize and manage student support groups focusing on topics like anger management, anxiety/depression, teen parenthood, substance abuse, and self-esteem.
  • Keep track of and update students' emotional and social data to ensure accurate monitoring within the school's framework.
  • Help provide services for homeless students.
  • Upkeep professional standards, acting as a role model and guardian of the school's mission, core values, and culture.
  • Provide detailed and timely reports to the administration to monitor student progress and ensure school compliance.

Summer Tasks:

  • Analyze intake forms for new freshmen to gather comprehensive background information.
  • Engage with high-needs students over the summer to prepare them for the upcoming school year.
  • Liaise with counselors from feeder elementary schools to create a 'watch list' of incoming freshmen and recruit students for summer programs.
  • Develop resources and tools for support groups tailored to diverse student needs.
