Position Overview

The Polysomnographic Technician plays a crucial role in the assessment and management of patients experiencing sleep-related issues. This professional is tasked with conducting comprehensive tests and gathering essential data on individuals suffering from sleep disorders.

Key Responsibilities

The technician's duties include:

  • Providing clear explanations to patients regarding the upcoming sleep studies and associated procedures.
  • Preparing and calibrating necessary equipment for testing.
  • Documenting patient activities during the sleep study and analyzing the results meticulously.

All activities are performed under the guidance of a qualified Medical Director and/or a certified sleep technologist.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

1. Completion of an accredited sleep technology program, or a related healthcare credential (such as RN, LPN, RT) with a minimum of 546 hours of clinical experience, which is part of the A-STEP Program.

2. Current BCLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Certification as RPSGT, CPSGT, RST, or a Respiratory SDS is highly desirable.

2. A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience is preferred.
