Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, a renowned eye care provider, seeks a skilled Eye Care Specialist to join our team. With 19 practice locations in the greater Boston area, South Shore, and Cape Cod, we offer a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with experienced ophthalmologists.
As an Eye Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care under the direct supervision of the department supervisor. Your responsibilities will include assisting physicians in gathering patient data, maintaining a clinical environment, and performing essential tasks such as visual acuity testing, visual field testing, and pupil assessment.
You will be required to conduct diagnostic testing, maintain patient medical records, and participate in patient care within a clinical setting. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in employer-sponsored training and continuing education to become certified by JCAHPO as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 18 months from the date of hire.
We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COA). You should possess proficiency in most aspects of ophthalmic patient care, with basic knowledge of advanced procedures. The ideal candidate will accurately perform refractometry, applanation tonometry, and other ophthalmic tests.
A strong math and science background, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is essential for success in this role. We also require proficiency in operating ophthalmic equipment, working independently, and as part of a team. In addition, you should be able to troubleshoot common eye issues and work with various electronic health record systems.
