Atlantic Health System is in search of a Per Diem Environmental Services Assistant at Morristown Medical Center. This role requires flexible hours, including availability on weekends.
This position participates in the Atlantic Health System #teenhiring initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of various areas including patient rooms, auxiliary spaces, and other designated locations within the healthcare facility under the guidance of the environmental services supervisor.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning tools and techniques to maintain cleanliness in nursing units, patient rooms, and other assigned areas, focusing on floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, and furniture.
- Adhere to departmental policies regarding cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
- Respond promptly to spills and other urgent cleaning needs as they arise.
- Restock and maintain housekeeping carts at the conclusion of each shift.
- Dispose of all waste and linen throughout the facility.
- Follow precise instructions for the preparation of cleaning solutions and the handling of biohazard materials.
- Conduct regular inspections of the assigned areas to identify environmental needs.
- Report maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Stay informed about updates in environmental services by attending monthly departmental meetings.
- Manage moderately complex situations and escalate more intricate issues to senior staff.
- Responsibilities include the cleaning of bodily fluids.
- Carry out additional related tasks as required.
- High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or must obtain within two years of employment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
- Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid working papers are required for individuals aged 16 or 17.
- Previous experience in institutional housekeeping is preferred.
