About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to support our Transportation Aviation Business Line in Hunt Valley, MD. This position involves planning, design, engineering, and construction for airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts civil engineering design for airport projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, terminals, and other airport facilities.
  • Prepares construction specifications for airport development projects per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-10 and State requirements.
  • Prepares design reports, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Collects and analyzes data to support design and construction phases of projects.
  • Uses various computer software for design development and prepares plans in Civil 3D.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other airport/civil engineering, architectural, and engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, Utility companies, permitting agencies, contractors, government and regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Serves as engineering Task Leader and conducts direct task supervision and mentorship of CAD Staff, Designers, and other Junior Engineers at the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Performs construction administration and construction inspection.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree + 4 years of related civil experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Ability to pass Federal background check for airport badging.
  • Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
Preferred Requirements
  • Six (6) years of relevant working experience.
  • Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office Software.
  • Advanced Experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software.
  • Experience in performing construction administration and inspection.
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in both an office and field (construction) environment.
  • Experience leading airfield design and construction tasks as part of a bigger project.
