Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a faculty position in agronomy at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a research and extension program focused on enhancing the profitability of major field crops in the Northeast Region of Louisiana.

The position will involve managing and overseeing field trials, collecting data, and disseminating results to stakeholders. The extension program will entail creating, coordinating, and conducting educational programs for agronomic field crops, including networking with county agents, consultants, agrichemical company representatives, and producers.

The successful candidate will work closely with the regional director and other research and extension faculty to ensure that their programs align with the mission of the LSU AgCenter. Ongoing professional development through association with professional societies and attendance at national and international conferences is expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a research and extension program focused on enhancing the profitability of major field crops in the Northeast Region of Louisiana.
  • Manage and oversee field trials, collect data, and disseminate results to stakeholders.
  • Create, coordinate, and conduct educational programs for agronomic field crops.
  • Network with county agents, consultants, agrichemical company representatives, and producers.
  • Work closely with the regional director and other research and extension faculty to ensure program alignment with the LSU AgCenter mission.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or other appropriate agriculture-related field.
  • Experience in production of agronomic crops, precision agriculture, soil fertility, and plant nutrition is highly desirable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities are required for working effectively with diverse professional and lay audiences and cooperators.
