Role Overview
In the capacity of a Healthcare Advocate, your responsibilities will include engaging with patients and their families to secure optimal benefit coverage within a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient interviews in a healthcare setting, collaborating effectively with medical staff to assist patients in maximizing their benefit coverage.
- Complete applications for various state and federal programs, including Health Exchange/Marketplace initiatives.
- Review medical documentation and take necessary actions to expedite benefit approvals.
- Comply with company and legal standards regarding Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
- Maintain ongoing communication with governmental agencies concerning claims status.
- Provide updates and support to hospital staff and other Change Healthcare personnel as required.
- Document the status of claims and client contracts within Change Healthcare and/or hospital systems.
- Assess when to utilize Federal, State, or Local program applications based on medical definitions of disability and relevant medical records.
- Adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- At least 1 year of direct patient interaction in a healthcare or human services setting.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in engaging with patients and staff from diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% between local healthcare facilities.
- Ability to work on-site in a healthcare environment.
- Flexibility to work during standard business hours, including potential overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

- Understanding of federal and state programs that enhance client coverage.
