Job Overview

The Business Continuity Analyst is a key member of the Technology Group, reporting directly to the Product Manager. This role is essential in aligning business objectives with technology solutions, focusing on the planning and development of disaster recovery strategies and their implementation.

Position Summary

This position encompasses the entire Disaster Recovery lifecycle, ensuring comprehensive planning, testing oversight, and governance. The Analyst collaborates closely with IT Subject Matter Experts, Product Managers, and Business Teams to identify business needs that inform the design of effective disaster recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

• Overseeing all aspects of the disaster recovery program to guarantee that the organization can restore IT systems following a disaster and conduct necessary testing exercises.

• Designing, documenting, and testing disaster recovery solutions to fulfill both business and technology requirements.

• Assessing current technology solutions to determine their suitability for new business or technology demands, and recommending alternative technologies as needed.

• Providing expert guidance in disaster recovery methodologies, including backup and recovery strategies, data replication, failover and failback processes, and recovery testing.

• Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of IT disaster recovery initiatives, including risk assessments, impact analyses, and development of recovery plans.

• Maintaining thorough documentation of disaster recovery plans, procedures, and testing outcomes. Preparing and presenting reports to senior management and stakeholders regarding the status of disaster recovery initiatives.

• Driving continuous improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of IT disaster recovery processes and technologies.

Compliance and Improvement

• Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to IT disaster recovery and business continuity.

• Reviewing existing disaster recovery architecture and providing recommendations for enhancements.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

• At least 6 years of experience in IT disaster recovery, with a proven ability to manage complex disaster recovery projects in both on-premise and cloud environments.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

• Proven experience in translating business and technical requirements into effective technology solutions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies, technologies, and best practices, including backup and recovery solutions, data replication, and failover/failback procedures.

• Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity concepts such as RTO, RPO, MTPD, and BIA.

• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

• Proficient in designing disaster recovery exercises to validate RTO and RPO.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to build collaborative relationships with team members, IT management, and client departments.

• Understanding of technology architecture and platforms, with the ability to convey technical concepts to business users in relation to their requirements.

• Capability to define metrics that assess the success of recovery operations in meeting business and technical objectives.

Desired:

• Graduate degree or MBA.

• Experience with public cloud providers.

• Background in IT Service Management activities.

• Understanding of financial principles.

• Relevant certifications such as EC-Council Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP), Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred.
