Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Rigging Assistant to join our team at West Marine. As a Rigging Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality products and services are delivered to our customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform splicing and swaging for customer orders with precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist in the installation of rigging products, ensuring a safe and efficient process.
  • Understand and apply proper use of all equipment and tools used in the field and shop.
  • Represent the West Marine brand and service with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Drive sales through engagement with customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.
  • Produce quotes, orders, production, and payment for rigging products and services.
  • Educate store staff on services and capabilities of the rigging shop.
  • Protect crew members and customers by providing a safe and clean shop environment.
  • Ensure all safety rules and standards are followed while working in the shop and the field.
  • Maintain the stability and reputation of the shop by complying with all legal requirements.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • General sailing and boat knowledge with the ability to read measurements, both imperial and metric.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
