Job Overview

An Automotive Service Technician plays a crucial role in a vehicle maintenance establishment, providing essential services and repairs to customers' vehicles as they arrive at the facility.

As a Service Technician with Maguire Automotive Group, you will assist clients with basic service needs, including oil changes and fluid top-offs. Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently and professionally carry out the maintenance tasks required to ensure customers can safely return to the road.

Upon completion of services, the Technician will be tasked with preparing detailed service reports and invoices for customers, as well as suggesting future service appointments. The main focus of an Automotive Service Technician is to deliver high-quality maintenance services, fostering trust in the company and establishing long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draining and replacing engine oil according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Refilling other essential fluids, such as brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
  • Inspecting the engine compartment and undercarriage for leaks and potential problems.
  • Checking and adjusting tire pressure, ensuring they meet manufacturer standards.
  • Installing replacement parts, including air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers, and batteries.
  • Lubricating moving components as necessary, ensuring the engine remains clean during servicing.
  • Identifying existing issues and collaborating with senior mechanics to resolve vehicle problems.
  • Creating comprehensive service reports for customer records.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong aptitude for mechanical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Proven experience in vehicle servicing.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening and background check.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, along with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Capability to read and interpret complex instructions and relay information in reports.
  • Physical capability to perform all tasks associated with the Technician role, including bending, reaching, standing for extended periods, and lifting over 60 pounds.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance practices.
  • ASE certification is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license for the state of New York.

  • Ability to interpret vendor catalogs.
  • Familiarity with tools and machinery, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a dealership service department.
  • Occasional weekend and evening shifts may be required.
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, dust, and various cleaning solutions.

  • Potential hazards include slips, trips, falls, and ergonomic injuries.
  • Safety training is provided to mitigate risks associated with lifting and movement.
