Job Summary

This is a technical role in the diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of golf course equipment, including mowers, golf carts, small engines, sweepers, sprayers, rollers, and other related machinery.

The successful candidate will prioritize safety and maintain a clean service area and maintenance building. They will collaborate closely with the course Superintendent/Assistant Superintendents/Outside Services Manager to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it is available for daily use on the golf course.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create schedules and complete preventive maintenance services on vehicles, golf carts, mowers, and other specialized course equipment.
  • Tune and repair engines and drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearings, and seals.
  • Adjust and sharpen reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units.
  • Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting.
  • Perform electrical and hydraulic system repairs.
  • Prepare purchases based on inventory control and budget.
  • Maintain parts inventory necessary for efficient equipment repairs.
  • Prioritize equipment repairs based on the next day's needs.
  • Assist in the instruction and training of maintenance workers regarding preventative maintenance, proper cleaning, and safe operation of equipment.
  • Maintain records for vehicles and equipment, including routine maintenance and major repairs.
  • Report any work-related or patron injuries or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Ensure OSHA requirements are followed in the shop, recycling, and disposal of used material.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and the making of various types of mechanical repair.
  • Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and exercise honesty, integrity, and respect with all guests, co-workers, and golf course management team.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, demonstrate a positive attitude, and communicate effectively with co-workers, guests, and members.
  • Work with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail, maintain good attendance by working when and where directed.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle. A valid Utah driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Often required to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend, and kneel for several hours at a time without sitting.
  • Ability to climb onto equipment and make repairs as high as 25' in height.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and twist while making repairs to vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Moderate exposure to extreme heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
  • Daily exposure to dusts, dirt, and pollens.
  • Noise level is typically loud.
