Senior Architect Job Description

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect to join our Architecture team in Albany, NY; Rochester, NY or Buffalo, NY office.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Architect to lead our design team in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design team in developing and implementing architectural solutions for clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote an interdisciplinary and collaborative design culture.
  • Assist in programming and planning, concept design, and detailed design.
  • Manage and lead A/E design teams.
  • Communicate with clients and build/maintain relationships.
  • Coordinate engineering and problem-solving for design solutions.
  • Conduct code analysis and research.
  • Analyze materials and products.
  • Write specifications.
  • Prepare and coordinate construction documents.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys.
  • Coordinate communication between clients and CED.
  • Deliver clear and timely feedback/communication to the project team.
  • Monitor project team performance and approach.
  • Participate in regular project-related meetings.
  • Consider risk management and monitor client and technical issues.
  • Integrate design and technical aspects of a project.
  • Have direct contact responsibility with clients and associated consultants.
  • Ensure orderly and complete preparation, distribution, and retention of project written records.
  • Understand design philosophies, building design concepts, design software, and delivery methods.
  • Understand and respond to technical implications of design decisions.
  • Assist Project Managers in establishing scope of work and services.
  • Assist in client and consultant proposals, fees, schedules, and contracts.
  • Behave consistently with integrity, trust, and commitment.
  • Promote office culture and studio mentorship.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience serving governmental clients on civic and public works facilities.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture or equivalent work experience.
  • Architecture Licensure (NY) Required. NJ & CT a plus.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen, technical knowledge, coordination skills, and ability to build rapport with project team and client.
  • Willingness to mentor team members on technical and professional skills.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Versed in developing qualifications and fee proposals.
  • Experience with or strong interest in business development and interview activities.
  • Project management experience preferred in planning and executing design/construction projects.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation

$84,900 - $116,000 DOQ.
