About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom Electronic Technician II to join our team at BNSF Railway. As a key member of our Telecommunications Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our rail network by managing essential communication systems and devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain various telecommunications equipment, including radios, digital microwave, and radio frequency data link equipment.
  • Install, assemble, repair, adjust, test, and maintain wired and wireless systems and devices, automatic equipment identification systems, IP networks, VoIP, cameras, Radio Frequency (RF) communications, voice and data communications, front and end train devices, and soldering electrical/electronic components.
  • Work in a safety-sensitive environment, including diverse and extreme weather conditions, walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
Requirements
  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • At least 18 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date listed in the job description.
  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
  • Able to work the above shift/hours.
  • Able to meet the above travel requirements.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate (speak, hear, and understand) English.
  • Able to work indoors primarily at a workbench, equipment bay, installation garage, or Radio Frequency (RF) transmission facility.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Experience doing soldering work.
  • Able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
  • 2 years minimum of verifiable electronics experience or post-high school training.
  • Able to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
  • Able to climb on/off equipment.
  • Able to occasionally work on top of locomotives and other equipment.
  • Able to bend, walk, stand, and sit occasionally with breaks.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures; wear the required personal protective equipment.
  • Must successfully complete company-administered Fall Protection Training.
  • Must pass Electronic Technician II qualification test with 80% or better.
