Job Summary

The County of Alameda is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Behavioral Health Clinician II to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Department, you will provide mental health clinical services and forensically focused case management services to clients in a jail setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct mental health evaluations and assessments, including risk of harm to self and others
  • Document an individual's history and tendency for violence
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis stabilization
  • Engage in consultation and implementation of pre-planned use of force with Sheriff's Deputies
  • Conduct mental status examinations and formulate Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM)-V related diagnoses
  • Provide consultation to other programs and agencies on treatment needs and behavioral plans for forensic clients
  • Provide discharge planning and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited school in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, nursing, or related field
  • Valid clinical license from the applicable licensing authority: California Board of Behavioral Sciences, California Board of Psychology, or California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Experience working with forensic populations and providing mental health services in a jail setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and community organizations
