Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a member of our close-knit prototyping team, you will be responsible for developing capabilities that enable warfighters to harness a diverse set of sensors and data sources to accomplish a variety of missions that are of high importance to the defense of our nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prototype solutions to unaddressed, crucial military operational shortfalls through research, conceptualization, design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Perform system design and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating several engineering fields.
  • Support prototype evaluation, experimental operations at military facilities, and transitions of capabilities to government or industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in complex software development, particularly in database system design, signal processing, environmental sensing, or software defined radios.
  • Significant knowledge of C++ or Java in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance.
