Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Record Technician/Incident Report Processor to join our team at the City of Montrose. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the police department's administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and maintain various records in the Police Department, including incident reports, arrest records, and other related documents.
  • Provide telephone support for the department, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist citizens with their requests and concerns, ensuring that their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use CCIC/NCIC system (State and Federal Law Enforcement data base), CORA (Colorado Open Records Act), and CCRN (Colorado Certified Records Network) to perform duties.
  • Utilize the police department's record data base (Spillman) system to access and update records.
  • Perform background checks as requested, conduct warrant entry and validations, and compile data for statistical reports and alarm reports.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; associates degree from an accredited college or technical school preferred.
  • One year experience in similar position with records maintenance, data entry, and transcription experience preferred.
  • Ability to use CCIC/NCIC and maintain certification, CCIC/NCIC validations, ability to run criminal histories in CCIC/NCIC, Municipal warrant entry into CCIC/NCIC, warrant reconciliation, fingerprint quality check, and guarding of state terminal.
