Job Overview
The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a hygienic and welcoming environment. This role involves a combination of housekeeping duties and light manual labor, focusing on the care and cleanliness of patient areas, communal spaces, and administrative offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly cleans, mops, and sanitizes resident rooms, restrooms, and bathing facilities.
- Maintains cleanliness of windows, window treatments, walls, and furnishings.
- Conducts specialized cleaning tasks, disinfecting surfaces, floors, and furniture.
- Ensures nursing stations, hallways, lobbies, treatment rooms, recreational areas, lounges, and dining spaces are kept clean and orderly.
- Stocks and organizes cleaning and linen carts efficiently.
- Empties and sanitizes waste and recycling containers.
- Handles laundry tasks including washing, drying, folding, and storing linens and garments.
- Delivers clean linens and garments to various departments, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
- May operate sewing and mending equipment as needed.
- Adheres to privacy and confidentiality protocols in compliance with HIPAA standards and organizational policies.
- Follows established safety and infection control procedures.
- Acts as a Mandatory Reporter as defined by applicable regulations.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED, or relevant experience in cleaning or laundry services.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, abuse registry review, and criminal background check.
Special Requirements
All employees are subject to the Mandatory Vaccination Policy upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment is essential.
Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions effectively.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Vision capabilities necessary for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Effective verbal communication and hearing abilities are required for interaction with staff and residents.
This position requires regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Work primarily occurs indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
Some tasks may involve navigating slippery surfaces and exposure to cleaning chemicals, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment to mitigate risks.
