HOW AN ADVANCED FIREARMS TRAINING SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • The Advanced Firearms Training Specialist assists the Lead Firearms Instructor during Federal Flight Deck Officer Requalification Training sessions, aiding in preparation, execution, and post-session requirements for all semi-annual firearms requalification events.
  • Ensures the safety of participants during both dry-fire and live-fire training scenarios.
  • Provides individualized instruction to trainees during the pre-qualification warm-up exercises and any remedial training as designated by the Lead Firearms Instructor.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively convey law enforcement training concepts to a diverse audience and instruct in accordance with adult education principles, including both platform and practical instruction.
  • Must be capable of interpreting, applying, and adhering to established program policies, standard operating procedures, and lesson plans.
  • Responsible for safeguarding all Sensitive Security Information and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information during and after re-qualification sessions, in compliance with relevant security policies.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Required Experience: A minimum of 5 years of formal instructional experience in all relevant law enforcement disciplines, including firearms, defensive tactics, and use of force.
  • Must be a current or former certified law enforcement officer or civilian employee who has completed a recognized firearms training program.
  • An Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or relevant experience is required.
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations is essential.
  • Applicants must successfully complete a security application and pass a background investigation clearance prior to commencing employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The role typically involves work at indoor or outdoor shooting ranges. Employees will handle firearms and ammunition as part of their duties. Exposure to high noise levels from gunfire is expected, and hearing protection is mandatory. Employees may also encounter gunpowder residue and must maintain hygiene after handling ammunition. Some physical effort may be required in managing light materials or equipment. This job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.
