City of Veneta - Community Development Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our team as a Community Development Director. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community and contribute to the growth and development of Veneta.

About the Role

The Community Development Director will be responsible for delivering all services related to land use development, land, building, and municipal code regulation, housing regulations, and environmental protection regulations. Primary responsibilities include the development, coordination, and supervision of all long-range and current planning activities relating to the Comprehensive Plan; working with developers on land use matters; implementing land use ordinances; grant research, writing, and management in support of capital planning and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans and policies that promote sustainable growth and development.
  • Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and community groups to ensure that land use regulations are effectively implemented.
  • Supervise staff and provide guidance to the City Council on land use matters.
  • Research, write, and manage grants to support capital planning and projects.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in urban planning or a related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of Oregon land use laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in planning, community development, or public administration.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
