Position Overview:

As a vital member of the educational team, the Speech Language Pathologist will design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive speech-language therapy program tailored for students with unique educational requirements. This role involves providing both direct and consultative services to enhance communication skills and address speech-language challenges that may hinder academic performance or social interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate on universal classroom adaptations to support student needs.
  • Conduct thorough assessments for referred students, analyze results, and compile detailed evaluation reports.
  • Actively participate in the Individual Education Program (IEP) team, contributing to the development of tailored therapy goals.
  • Deliver both direct and indirect speech-language services within educational environments.
  • Work alongside educational staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Travel between various educational facilities to provide necessary services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and compliance records.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing speech-language services.
  • Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality in all professional interactions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Supervise speech-language pathology assistants as required.
  • Provide guidance and information to parents and school personnel regarding speech-language services.
  • Utilize telehealth options when appropriate to reach students effectively.
  • Follow all infection control protocols as established by the organization.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure in good standing from the Department of Public Instruction for applicable positions.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence is preferred for those in mentorship roles.

Experience:

  • Preferred experience of at least one year in a relevant setting.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on active listening and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs for the age groups served.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the individual may be required to engage in various physical activities, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Adherence to safety protocols and use of protective equipment is mandatory.
