We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate RN Student Nurse Extern PRN Surgical Care Unit to join our team at Johnston-Willis Hospital. As a Nurse Extern, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and assist with providing patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient care activities, including mobility, positioning, and transferring patients to and from other units/departments.
- Obtain and record patient information, including initial and ongoing assessments.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure patients/families/caregivers understand their medical condition, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects.
- Provide education to patients/families/caregivers on healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes necessary upon discharge.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing.
- Ability to create and implement a personal career development plan.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
