Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant Team Lead to join our team at Tufts Medical Center. As a Medical Assistant Team Lead, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families. You will work closely with our healthcare team to ensure that our patients receive the highest level of care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control and monitor patient flow to maximize efficient use of providers and exam rooms.
  • Prepare patients for physician exams and assist with vital signs and documentation.
  • Act as a patient advocate and provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.
  • Measure patient vital signs, perform Point of Care Testing (POCs), and specimen collection/labeling/requisition for laboratory.
  • Assist physicians during patient exams and ensure accurate recording of patient interactions.
  • Ensure proper techniques and procedures for hazardous waste disposal, universal precautions, and body mechanics.
  • Lead and participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance projects.
  • Assist with coordination of work for follow-up on missed appointments, reminder calls, lost to care calls, and high-risk referrals.
  • Assist with clinic scheduling problem-solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficient and quality services.
  • Take an active role in the implementation of new information technology and systems.
  • Act as a liaison between the medical assistants, front desk staff, the office manager, and the practice director.
  • Assist in general record keeping, including attendance records, patient comments, and complaints.
  • Hold meetings with medical assistants and front desk staff to discuss processes, workflow, and improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and physicians to proactively correct issues, misunderstandings, discrepancies that may affect patient care.
Requirements
  • Completed MA education from an accredited program or graduated within 36 months prior to the program becoming accredited.
  • Medical Assistant National Certification Attestation issued by a governing body (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA).
  • Two years of medical office or physician office experience.
  • CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of medical office experience.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Bi-lingual.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
