PRIMARY ROLE

Under the guidance of the Director of School Services, the Site Coordinator for after-school programs is tasked with the planning, coordination, and execution of high-quality educational, enrichment, and recreational activities, alongside the supervision of program staff. Administrative responsibilities and compliance with program standards are also key aspects of this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitating Youth Success

  • Encourage and enhance participation in programs.
  • Oversee the registration of new members and assist in their orientation.
  • Provide mentorship and serve as a role model for club members.

Program Development and Execution

  • Supervise, train, and assess all site personnel to ensure effective performance.
  • Plan, organize, and guarantee the delivery of engaging programs and activities in essential areas that meet established guidelines.
  • Offer guidance and oversight in all relevant program sectors.
  • Ensure the delivery of structured educational, arts & crafts, athletic, enrichment, and social activities for youth in grades K-5.
  • Maintain an inventory of program equipment and ensure its proper storage and upkeep.
  • Ensure all program areas are well-organized and hygienic.
  • Foster a positive environment conducive to learning, interaction, and growth.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors, school personnel, parents, and other service providers to exchange information and address concerns.
  • Establish and uphold strict program standards to ensure the health and safety of all members.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and oversight of staff and volunteers.
  • Assume the responsibilities of Youth Development Professionals in their absence.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Prepare and submit accurate schedules, attendance records, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with attendance procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervision

  • Maintain order and discipline among members by managing behavior and reinforcing club rules.
  • Develop injury prevention strategies and evaluate incidents, prioritizing member safety.
  • Contribute to a productive work environment by participating in regular staff meetings.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • May engage in special programs or events.
  • May assist in other program areas as needed.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain daily communication with club staff (both professional and volunteer), club members, and supervisors to exchange information, discuss issues, and provide guidance.

External: Engage with community groups, schools, and parents to assist in problem resolution.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • A four-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter units.
  • Preferred organizational and management skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in youth development within a school, childcare, or after-school program setting.
  • Demonstrated success in supervising and managing programs for groups of 20+ youth across various activities.
  • Able to accommodate diverse learning styles and levels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications and TB test clearance required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Tasks may require physical exertion, including standing for extended periods, kneeling, crouching, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Tasks are typically performed with moderate exposure to environmental factors such as dust, humidity, and temperature variations.
