Disability Services Coordinator

Welcome to the Disability Services Coordinator role at Wor-Wic Community College, where we strive for excellence in support for students with disabilities. As a Disability Services Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring equal access to education for students with disabilities, promoting a culture of inclusivity, and upholding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Disability Services Coordinator to join our team. This is a part-time position, approximately 10-15 hours per week, working a variable schedule Monday-Friday during the day. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for supporting students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops a plan of service and provides accommodations for students with disabilities, ensuring equal access to education and promoting a culture of inclusivity.
- Monitors the effectiveness of accommodations and makes adjustments as needed to ensure students have the support they require.
- Provides hands-on technical assistance to students with disabilities, helping them to navigate college life and access resources.
- Maintains records and correspondence related to student accommodations and services, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Disability Services department.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in disability studies, education, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services, or a relevant field.
- At least one year of experience in K-12 or college-level learning disability services, learning disability assessment, and/or ADA/Section 504 and 508 compliance, including experience providing advocacy and counseling to persons with disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laws protecting persons with disabilities, such as the ADA and Section 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Excellent computer, organizational, problem-solving, human relations, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Creole.
Benefits:
This is a part-time position with a starting hourly rate of $30.87-$40.00, based on experience, and does not include benefits. The successful candidate will work a variable schedule Monday-Friday during the day, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
