Job Summary

The Community Specialist IV is a critical role at The Arc Rockland, responsible for providing direct supports and instructional services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position requires a high level of expertise in implementing programs that cater to the unique needs and interests of each individual.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing training programs and instructional services to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Providing specialized supports to individuals with complex needs in classroom and community settings
  • Completing a training curriculum with a focus on supporting individuals with complex behavior or medical needs
  • Writing Staff Action Plans and Monthly Progress Notes, and attending planning/LifePlan meetings as assigned
  • Administering medication to individuals as assigned, and documenting daily data collection and monthly notes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related Human Services field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum one year of experience working directly with individuals who have developmental disabilities
  • Self-directed instruction through the Relias Training Program, with successful completion of prescribed training within assigned timeframes
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet Agency's driving standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking and standing frequently
  • Sitting occasionally in awkward positions while assisting with feeding
  • Reaching forward continuously and reaching overhead occasionally to assist individuals and perform other tasks
